Visas & Green Cards

Vellanoweth & Gehart, LLP, has helped thousands of people protect, unite, and reunite their families by obtaining family-based immigrant visas and other types of non-immigrant visas (especially T and U visas) that allow non-citizens to gain Legal Permanent Resident status and receive a “Green Card.”  We help people navigate the complexities of Adjustment of Status, Consular Processing, and Waivers of Inadmissibility.

Citizenship

United States Citizenship constitutes the most important benefit that a foreign-born person can obtain, because, until one has United States Citizenship, the United States Government considers you a foreign guest whose status it may cancel at any time.  Vellanoweth & Gehart, LLP, takes great pride in helping Legal Permanent Residents gain Citizenship and a truly permanent right to remain in the United States.

Get Your Consultation Today

As immigration laws have grown extremely complex, Vellanoweth & Gehart, LLP, strongly urges all persons with immigration related questions to call our offices to make an appointment, bring all relevant documents to their appointment, and personally consult with one or more of our attorneys regarding their situation.  Personal consultations with an attorney provide the best opportunities for clear communication, in depth analysis, and meaningful understanding.  After an initial appointment, it often becomes necessary for the client to obtain further documentation about themselves before attorneys can complete the consultation.  In such cases, a client's presence in the office can save much time, because our staff can immediately assist clients in obtaining documents through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and conducting FBI, California Department of Justice, or U.S.-VISIT fingerprint checks.

Carlos Vellanoweth

A political science major from California State University Long Beach and graduate of Loyola Law School, Carlos Vellanoweth has ligated for over thirty years on behalf of immigrant laborers and families.  Mr. Vellanoweth takes special pleasure in protecting the fundamental human rights to migrate, to live together as a family, and to contribute to the vitality of one's local economy through one's labor.  Mr. Vellanoweth established new defenses to deportation early in his legal career by requiring the Government to respect immigrants' Due Process Rights under the Constitution in deportation proceedings.  As an advocate for political change, Mr. Vellanoweth organized the 100,000 person march against Proposition 187's anti-child and anti-immigrant laws in 1994.  Ten years later, he brought community leaders together to discuss the need for grass roots movement toward humane immigration laws.  These community leaders organized the millions of people who joined the marches that followed in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
